Tsukuba-ya
A moment to unwind in the city.
Tsukuba-ya in Kohoku, Adachi, serves reassuring town-Chinese staples, from generous fried rice sets with half-ramen and spring rolls to wok-tossed omurice and everyday set meals.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Opening the menu at Tsukuba-ya in Kohoku, Adachi, reveals a familiar world of noodles, rice bowls, fried specialities, and classic Chinese-style stir-fries. When hunger calls at lunchtime, many diners go straight for the Fried Rice Set. A generous mound of fried rice comes accompanied by a compact yet satisfying half-portion of ramen, crisp fried spring rolls, and a small fresh salad. Taking sips of clear soy-broth ramen between mouthfuls of savoury rice offers the direct, comforting pleasure of old-school neighbourhood Chinese dining.
Beyond noodle-and-rice combinations, the kitchen turns out memorable diner-style specialities. The omurice, tossed briskly in a wok, wraps moist ketchup rice in a thin layer of egg and arrives garnished with red pickled ginger alongside a bowl of Chinese soup—a beloved dish in its own right. Classic soups like bean sprout ramen and gomoku ramen, crisp gyoza dumplings, tonkatsu, and savoury drinking snacks round out the offering, serving solitary lunches and casual weekend drinks with equal ease.
The dining room features counter and table seating, and free parking is available on site. Note that payments are accepted in cash only. It remains a dependable spot to keep in mind whenever you want a straightforward, satisfying meal.
